dotty seiter: now playing
diary of an artist at work

Serendipity! 2.0

To review, I find in my new Joy Journal from MaryAnn an envelope of JUST the right size and color in which my No Need art can make itself at home, and I tuck the envelope in JUST the right pocket in my journal. VERY satisfying.

But, there’s more to the story!

When I first open the envelope, I discover a small blank card printed by dept.store for the mind with a scribble design and the words OVER THE MOON on the front. Not only that but also MaryAnn has tucked inside the card a tiny cyanotype print evocative of a full moon in the night sky. Oh my gosh! Did I not originally post No Need with a tanka about the moon? Well, yes I did! Serendipity!

I take SUCH delight in affixing the moon cyanotype on the left interior side of the blank card, affixing a printed copy of my moon tanka on the facing side, and then tucking the card into the pocket with my enveloped art. As I merge my writing and art with MaryAnn’s maker magic, I take part in keeping this Joy Journal a living creation.

There are SO many reasons to call this journal a Joy Journal!

My Story

In 2014, I grab an unexpected opportunity to paint.

To make art.

I get hooked.

In 2015 I start a blog—a diary of my life as an artist.

I post my paintings and their stories. The good, the bad, the ugly.

My compass points: bust through fear, be playful, get messy, trust my gut.
