Ongoing Shifting of Gears
Below, a bit of the art history of a single gessobord panel—first in 2015, then sometime between 2015 and 2024, and finally in just the past few days in 2024. Over the past few days: Continue reading

Shifting Gears
The Nicholas Wilton free workshop ends as the first week of March closes and, what with that end plus my choosing to shift gears away from my CutUps series plus a confluence of non-art demands bombarding me, I feel at a loss in my art-making. I go into my studio, wander around, fumble, make marks… Continue reading

Nicholas Wilton Free Workshop, post #6
The final pre-workshop countdown prompt: #1 What is the biggest, best possible dream of my art / life that I’m willing to say out loud? My free-association biggest, best possible dream for spring 2024: • Have fun! • Get messy!• Paint every day!• Be open to surprise!• Connect with others!• Say hello to I don’t… Continue reading

Nicholas Wilton Free Workshop, post #1
My inaugural series of CutUps came to a natural end just as a free workshop offered by Nicholas Wilton started up. I’m hoping to use my blog in one fashion or another so as to avail myself of what the workshop has to offer in more depth than I might otherwise. Starting point for the… Continue reading
My Story
In 2014, I grab an unexpected opportunity to paint.
To make art.
I get hooked.
In 2015 I start a blog—a diary of my life as an artist.
I post my paintings and their stories. The good, the bad, the ugly.
My compass points: bust through fear, be playful, get messy, trust my gut.
