Notes about poem and art:
• “Buonissimo!” reflects the fun of an impromptu solution to getting lunch on arrival day on Whidbey Island. Gluten free, inexpensive, tables and water fountain at hand, and we had to shop for groceries anyway. Worked for us!
A Riot is a second happily-following-MaryAnn‘s-lead watercolor-playground piece in my Pacific Northwest travel journal. Flowers for the picnic table above, so to speak : )

  1. Just the best Mediterranean diet. Guess you meant Hummus! A staple around here!

Your image came out HUGE!! A great burst of color and shapes! Just love all the mottled colors!

    1. Carol, hello! Yes, not sure why but I’ve always used the alternate hommos spelling. Maybe I’ll go edit my spelling above to hummus!

There is likely a way to control the image size, too. Two same-size images present very differently in size here in WP when one is placed horizontally and the other vertically. But look at that great burst of color and shapes … as you did! Thanks for your nod to the mottled colors; I had fun playing with that mottling as I painted.

      1. Probably how you pronounce it. We pronounce it almost like a ou sound. Whatever it’s the taste that counts 😂

    1. Thanks, MaryAnn, our picnic was just perfect. No fuss no muss and I didn’t have to deal with finding 100% gluten free offerings on a restaurant or takeout menu but instead got JUST what I was in the mood for : )

As you are now becoming aware, you ‘saved’ me more than once in my travel journal in September with inspo from your blog. So grateful!

    1. LOL at your invitation to say that three times fast! Yes to joy in the riot of color and tangle and boast and profusion—I had fun with the color play in this piece.

My Story

In 2014, I grab an unexpected opportunity to paint.

To make art.

I get hooked.

In 2015 I start a blog—a diary of my life as an artist.

I post my paintings and their stories. The good, the bad, the ugly.

My compass points: bust through fear, be playful, get messy, trust my gut.
