   Oh, Dotty… this is gorgeous! I don’t know what I love more. Do I love the colors? Yes. Do I love the textures? Yes. Do I love the scrappy bits? Yes! Do I love the bits of collage, the drips, and the scribbly scratchings? YES!! All of it combined makes for a beautiful piece. Hoping husband liked it. 💙💚💜

      2. Thank you for all the feedback on visual language—always so happily received! I wanted something looser and scrappier than past iterations of this format, and I was pleased to scribble scratch and drip in the spirit of free play (following Amanda’s terrific lead).
      3. Husband likes it 💙💚💜. I keep a small easel plate stand on his dresser and swap out the art there regularly. I put this piece on display on Valentine’s Day where it will stay for 30 days until Dave’s birthday 🎂.

      MaryAnn, “freaking fun loving!” hits the spot with me—thank you! I wanted to create a Valentine that was leaning towards the playfulness of candy conversation hearts v. lace-and-ribbons Victorian. Which is why that Anne Tyler quotation always hits the spot with me. It expresses such a lovely and loving sentiment while staying freaking fun loving : )
