Process! #3

Third step: dip your fingertips into wet paint of various colors and fingerpaint swooshes and marks onto your canvas. ✅

I opt for shades and tints of the colors I’ve got going already and, to the fingerpainting, I bring a dip pen and India ink into play.

fingerpainting and India ink layering

Engaging.

Satisfying.

You gotta love a step in the process that involves fingerpainting! I have fond…ish memories fingerpainting as a kid.

    It’s looking good Dotty!

    1. I have distinct sensory memories of childhood finger painting—the smell of the paint, the glossy paper, the tactile swirling of paint. This fingerpainting also grand fun!

  3. Hey, Dotty -this is such a lively piece with lovely India ink threadknots and swirls and asemia (YAY!). I really appreciate how you just follow your muse/instinct and create these beautiful pieces. I am learning so much from you, my friend. Trust. Courage. Abandon. Flow State.

    1. Roseanne, I love being the beneficiary of the observations you feed back to me, enriching my art life deliciously. Thank you so much!

Ink threadknots! A perfect descriptive name! And just your mention of the swirls and asemia lets me focus afresh on what I’ve layered in thus far in this process.

Thank you for cheerleading me with your affirmation of my following my muse/instinct, working with trust, courage, abandon, and flow state.

      Grateful, grateful.

My Story

In 2014, I grab an unexpected opportunity to paint.

To make art.

I get hooked.

In 2015 I start a blog—a diary of my life as an artist.

I post my paintings and their stories. The good, the bad, the ugly.

My compass points: bust through fear, be playful, get messy, trust my gut.
