dotty seiter: now playing
diary of an artist at work

November Adventures 1, 2, 3

Recent musings from artist Louise Fletcher: I decided that artists can be put into two categories—and that’s daft to begin with, we know! … but we could think about people as completers or adventurers in the way that they approach their art.

… For the completer, the finished product is the objective of being a painter. For the adventurer, a finished painting is a by-product of the reason for existing, and the reason for existing is to have adventures … in this case, getting some paint and brushes and doing adventurous things.

Enlargements of three of the by-products of my November adventures from the past week, with gratitude to Louise:

My Story

In 2014, I grab an unexpected opportunity to paint.

To make art.

I get hooked.

In 2015 I start a blog—a diary of my life as an artist.

I post my paintings and their stories. The good, the bad, the ugly.

My compass points: bust through fear, be playful, get messy, trust my gut.
