Getting in (and Out of) My Own Way 3

After getting and staying in my own way and being my own obstacle, at long last I stopped fighting what was in front of me.

A door to alchemy opened. A seemingly magical process of transformation and creation unfolded.

Without my dukes up, perceived difficulty metamorphosed into inspiration instead, became a gift for me to embrace and utilize. My heart and senses unblocked.

An Instagram reel here, a recorded Art Tribe interview there, lines from T.S. Eliot memorized more than 50 years ago … all converged and sparked generative energy that moved me to disrupt the tightness and limits of my work in progress.

I moved quickly, intuitively, and freely again, scribing favorite lines from novels, tearing and adhering bits of origami tissue paper, scumbling touches of veiling with a coarse sponge roller, and running across each grid window with a single white paint marker line.

Another series! Hot damn!

resolution of paint sketches!

My Story

In 2014, I grab an unexpected opportunity to paint.

To make art.

I get hooked.

In 2015 I start a blog—a diary of my life as an artist.

I post my paintings and their stories. The good, the bad, the ugly.

My compass points: bust through fear, be playful, get messy, trust my gut.
