dotty seiter: now playing
diary of an artist at work

You’ve Got Mail—7

In April 2022, neurographic art came onto my radar screen. Totally caught my attention. I was on the cusp of a trip to Virginia to visit Caroline and Emmy (and their parents ❤️), so I packed up some art supplies and decided we’d try our hands at this new-to-us artplay together. I remember the Hobby-Nook-like camaraderie and relaxation of that time around their dining room table, reaching for this marker or that, getting ideas from each other, lost to anything aside from our shared cocooned creative venture.

My very first neurographic dabbling, generated as described above, has now become two postcards sent to Caroline and Emmy at camp.

And the seasons, they go round and round
and round, in the circle game.

Fun fun fun! I always liked the top bunk too!

    1. Sleeping on a top bunk seemed very exotic to me during my early years at camp; probably wouldn’t be quite as inviting now with nocturnal bathroom visits as part of the mix!

  2. I remember we both started about the same time. A wonderful practice I should be doing more.

    1. Neurographica IS a wonderful practice! I sat to engage in some earlier this summer, but kinda ‘froze’—which makes me laugh but which was nonetheless the case. I do want to find my way back to it. Perhaps I’ll set that as a post-camp-postcards intention : )

    1. I’m wondering if either of the girls will realize this was from our first foray together into neurographica : )

My Story

In 2014, I grab an unexpected opportunity to paint.

To make art.

I get hooked.

In 2015 I start a blog—a diary of my life as an artist.

I post my paintings and their stories. The good, the bad, the ugly.

My compass points: bust through fear, be playful, get messy, trust my gut.
