Fun, yes? Thank you! I definitely became a leaf-in-the-making as I painted : )

Ooh my Goddess, Dotty, that is so pretty.
Was this book from one of our favorite poetesses a Christmas gift? You did such beautiful work on the leaves.
I bet if you hit reply to one of her daily poems and sent her a photo of this page, she’d absolutely love it. When I send a quick note, she writes right back.
Merriest of days to you.♥️

Roseanne, wow! So grateful for your feedback and your suggestion that I share this page with Rosemerry! I hadn’t even thought of contacting Rosemerry.
I purchased Hush as a Hanukkah gift for a friend and painted the bookmark as part of the gift.
I totally enjoyed the challenge of growing the leaves! I started by painting the whole bookmark surface with shades and hues of yellow and orange. I then brought the leaves into existence by painting negative space around them with blues. After that, India ink line work to suggest branches. Finally, tiny bits of collage to enliven the texture of the leaves : )
Thank you for your comments. As I said in a reply to you in my previous post, I never tire of art talk—thanks for opening the door to such conversation!

Well, boy-howdy! I’m so happy you told me that. That’s a technique I’m learning from Amanda Evanston and you executed it so beautifully. Looove it.

I do love that I can paint a breath of fresh air! spring! renewal! We’ve had what seems to me to be an unusual number of significantly cold cold days already, and we’re not even quite one week into ‘official’ winter. what the??? Your exclamation of OH GLORY BE! feels just right to me. Thank you : )

In 2014, I grab an unexpected opportunity to paint.
To make art.
I get hooked.
In 2015 I start a blog—a diary of my life as an artist.
I post my paintings and their stories. The good, the bad, the ugly.
My compass points: bust through fear, be playful, get messy, trust my gut.
