dotty seiter: now playing
diary of an artist at work

Do I Care What Day It Is? I Do Not.

Steady gentle rain tapping on the skylight in my study as I type.

Print collage, a torn swatch of fabric (thank you, MaryAnn!), three French knots (one tangled), a paint marker, India ink and dip pen, a Stabilo Woody.

Art journal p.1 roughed up a little. Feels great!

    1. Need to release a whole buncha stuff, internal and external. p.1 gave me a place to start; so grateful for art. Thanks for affirming my taking steps.

The tapping winter rain has been just exactly fine today.

And she’s off and roughing! Fun to see the fabric swatch! Keep having fun….and paying no attention to what day it is.

  3. I *AM* off and roughing! It was fun and freeing to include fabric (and check quickly with youtube to be sure I remembered how to make French knots!) in today’s disruption of what I did yesterday. As to know what day it is, NOT knowing is also fun and freeing!

    1. Yes, indeed, the joyful sound of rain! On the near horizon now, a first major snow forecast. Wonder what that’ll inspire in me.

I’m already liking that working in a journal opens doors to ongoing play with theoretically already-completed pages.

  5. Awesome! Fun! Snow too!? We had a light dusting, that was soon melted. But Mingus has a nice coat even two days later. Prescott got more, of course, and it is beautiful! We might get more on Sunday. My fingers are crossed.

My Story

In 2014, I grab an unexpected opportunity to paint.

To make art.

I get hooked.

In 2015 I start a blog—a diary of my life as an artist.

I post my paintings and their stories. The good, the bad, the ugly.

My compass points: bust through fear, be playful, get messy, trust my gut.
