Cabin Fever

The expression cabin fever usually connotes a feeling of being angry and bored because you have been inside for too long.

For me, however, cabin fever currently refers to the spike in my overall happiness ‘temperature’ as a result of having this simple cabin in a state park set in West Virginia mountains as my home for a week. Can’t get enough!

The mountains. The trees. The fresh air. The hiking. The quiet. The countless fires in our fireplace. The simple meals prepared together. The absolute fun I’ve had painting.

That’s the very best kind of cabin fever! Your joy is coming through in your paintings….they are fun and playful.

    1. You’ve got that right, Simone! I’m smiling because the tagline for the West Virginia State Park system is “almost heaven,” from the John Denver song I quoted in my post of the same name four days ago : )

    1. Yes, finding my calm, finding my excitement! I’m back home now and, by contrast, finding a seemingly unending to-do list. Taking a breath, pausing to mindfully find again calm find again excitement.

My Story

In 2014, I grab an unexpected opportunity to paint.

To make art.

I get hooked.

In 2015 I start a blog—a diary of my life as an artist.

I post my paintings and their stories. The good, the bad, the ugly.

My compass points: bust through fear, be playful, get messy, trust my gut.
